About

Favorite thing about Lions Bay? Second Growth Trees (forest life) and Mountain Fed Tap Water. And the comunity vibe.

How Would You Describe the LB Vibe? Grounded. Prudent. Community-Minded. Friendly. Can-Do Volunteerism.

Have You Volunteered, given back? Of Course! Everyone here tends to chip in where they can... and if you feel that something is missing you are expected to create it (and find funding for it) yourself. In that spirit I hosted a "Welcome to Lions Bay" New Villager mixer event (2000-2003). Served on Events Committee (2002ish-2003ish). Ran (free) After-School Tween Programming (weekly drop-in basketball + floor hockey: 2006ish-2008ish). Orangized Eat Together Long Table Dinners (2017-2019), BC Day at Brunswick Beach (2019), and an Intergenerational Community Concert at Lions Bay School (2018). And since 2015, through Lions Bay House Concerts, I have been volunteer-organizing paid concerts featuring national and international touring musicians in local private homes and public spaces. The great thing about Lions Bay is that it empowers you to create where you see a need, and step back when it no longer suits... you don't need to ask for permission!

Biggest Concern? Retaining our priviledged "wildness", and our friendships... as we are popularized!

Do you Have a Bear Story? Oh Yes! Months after moving to Lions Bay from Westmount, Montreal in 1999 we had our first bear encounter in our backyard, and later that summer chased it out of the garage. Haven't seen one in person since though. But we dined out on those encounter stories for years!
