Lions Bay bird vies with Federal Election for your attention
Did you know that the Official Flower of Lions Bay is the Columbine?
Now, Bird Friendly Lions Bay has teamed up with the Historical Society to hold a vote for an Official Bird. This is one of the most fun Bird Friendly City commitments and we’re hoping for many, many votes.
The outcome will be ratified by Council and formally recognized as the Village’s Official Bird. “The Seagull”, which is not a species but rather a colloquial term for any type of gull, will continue to be acknowledged as the historic avian symbol of Lions Bay.
Click through to vote now or join Bird Friendly Lions Bay and nine other groups at their Community Nature Event on May 10th in the Village Hall, and vote between 9;30 and 11 a.m. Results will be announced before noon.
Hint: right now there is no clear winner, so if you’re passionate about a specific bird, vote now!
If your preferred choice is missing, you’re able to add it at the bottom of the online form.
This should be a distinct bird species that occurs regularly and naturally in Lions Bay.
