Stanislav Volo has been missing since he stepped off the Sea to Sky gondola on Sunday morning.

Members of Lions Bay Search and Rescue (LBSAR) are taking part in the multi-agency search for the missing man, who headed off the gondola wearing hiking boots and a backpack just before noon on Sunday morning.

It is believed his intended route was along the nearby Habrich Ridge.

Squamish RCMP report that Volo, 43, is five-foot-11 with a medium build, blue eyes, blond hair in a ponytail, a beard and glasses.

As shown in the picture taken when he exited the gondola, Volo was wearing a black t-shirt and shorts, white socks, black runners and wearing a small daypack.

LBSAR's Training Officer and Search Manager Maria Masiar said that the team had six members in the field yesterday, but that the search has so far been unsuccessful.

Searchers are concerned that the upper level elevations of Mount Habrich will not be possible to access today due to significant rain and weather, so Masiar says the search will continue along the lower elevations of the area.

Squamish RCMP are asking anyone with information about the missing man to contact them at 604-892-6100, quoting file 2026-7488.
