West Vancouver Police are reporting a serious motor vehicle incident shortly before 4 p.m. this afternoon in Horseshoe Bay, with multiple first responders on the scene.

"We ask that the public avoid the area and follow #WVPD directions to allow emergency personnel to work."

Lions Bay resident Quinn Bradshaw walked by the event just after it happened, and reported seeing a 257 BC Transit bus with all four wheels on the sidewalk just past the bus stop on the corner of Keith Road and Bay Street.

"It must have lost control as it tried to take the corner," Bradshaw said.

"I saw at least four fire trucks, and at least eight ambulances at the site. Ferry workers had begun to cordon off the scene just as the police arrived."

Witnesses also reported an air ambulance attempting to land nearby.

Updates to follow as more information becomes available.
