If you'd like to watch members of Lions Bay's new council take their oaths of office, you'll have to do it in person.

The swearing-in ceremony, which also includes signing the Council Code of Conduct as a part of the process, begins at 6 p.m. tonight.

Presiding will be Sara Dubinsky, a partner with Village legal advisors Lidstone & Company.

As the event is set to take place in the Village Hall and not Council Chambers, Chief Administrative Officer Ross Blackwell says that it will not be broadcast on Zoom.

Long-time resident Ron McLaughlin, who has also previously held the roles of Councillor and Mayor in Lions Bay will be sworn in as Mayor. Returning Councillor Neville Abbott will join newly elected residents Ehsan Monfared, Leslie Nolin and Adam Solheim to be sworn in as Councillors.

Tonight's council meeting will conclude following the signing of the oath of office and Council Code of Conduct. Blackwell said that Council members will all participate in a training session for their new roles beginning on November 10, and will also take part in a three-day Local Government Leadership Academy Council orientation session commencing in early December.

The first regular Council meeting of this term is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17 at 6 p.m. The Council meeting calendar can be found online at the Village website HERE.
