Valeriote Retains Seat
Incumbent MLA one of two Greens in Conservative crush

Preliminary results issued Saturday night show the residents of the West Vancouver - Sea To Sky re-elected Jeremy Valeriote as their Member of Legislative Assembly.
Across the province, the reaction to NDP leader David Eby's early election call was to push back, and the party was steamrolled across the province.
Exactly one hour after the polls closed, the CBC called a Conservative victory under the leadership of Lorne Doerkson. Shortly afterwards Premier David Eby stepped onstage at BC NDP headquarters to offer his resignation both as Premier and as head of the party.
BC Green party leader Emily Lowan, who has governed her party without a seat in the legislature since she was elected last year, handily won her seat in the riding of Saanich North and the Islands.
Preliminary totals:
BC Conservatives: 64 seats
BC NDP: 27 seats
BC Greens: 2 seats
None of the other parties, including the newly-formed Centre BC, took a seat.
Final counts (and recounts in narrow-margin ridings) will take place November 6 - 10. A date for swearing-in the new members of the legislature has not yet been announced.
