Squamish RCMP have announced that no criminal charges will be laid related to the deadly Battani Creek landslide in 2024.

The December 14 landslide took the lives of long-time Lions Bay residents David and Barbara Enns. The slide blocked both lanes of the Sea to Sky Highway.

In a release Friday evening, RCMP Media Liaison Corporal Ashley MacKay stated that as part of the investigative process, they consulted with industry experts to examine the circumstances surrounding the landslide.

“Following a comprehensive review of all available evidence and expert analysis, investigators determined that the available evidence did not establish a basis to support criminal charges."

The investigation is now closed.

Sergeant Jeff Shore, officer in charge of the RCMP Sea to Sky General Investigation Section, said in the statement that "thoughts remain with the family who have endured so much throughout this tragedy."

Squamish RCMP also thanked their partner agencies and members of the community for their cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation, and said that no further information will be released at this time.
