Autumn serves up bounty of produce

It's harvest time, and this year, the gardens are bountiful.
For the first time in years, it's been a summer where local gardens and farmlands haven't had to face too many weather extremes, and there are some bumper crops as a result.
Autumn begins this year in the Northern Hemisphere on Monday, September 22 at 11:19 a.m., and gardeners everywhere are starting their harvest. We here at The Watershed were the beneficiaries of the beautiful produce you see in the photo, thanks to a generous neighbour. Lucky us!
Sharing and swapping of garden crops is an age-old tradition. Too many zucchini? Trade with your spinach-growing neighbour. Too many cukes? Share with the pickle-maker down the street.
But what happens when you have too much of a good thing?
If you find that you've exhausted local markets for your produce, please reach out to us here at The Watershed. We make a weekly run to the food bank in Squamish, where there can never be too many fresh garden fruits and vegetables. Email us at editor@lionsbaywatershed.ca and we'll be happy to swing by and collect anything you'd care to share.
Happy harvesting!
What have you grown in your garden this year? Share your harvest produce and photos below, or email us at editor@lionsbaywatershed.ca
