Road disruptions could continue past July 11

The resurfacing of the Lions Bay sections of Highway 99 southbound began this week, which has meant some travel disruptions for anyone using the route.
Counterflow lanes were put into place on July 7 to accommodate repaving of entrance and exit ramps on the southbound side, and will remain in place until the work on the ramps is completed.
Lions Bay residents and any other travellers planning to head toward the city will have exit onto the north-bound section of highway, and travel up to the turn-around at Tunnel Point in order to head south. Depending on traffic volumes, this could add ten to fifteen minutes to the journey.
This is a continuation of the work from last August's upgrade, and will include a repair of the section of highway damaged in the Battani Creek disaster. The job is scheduled to be completed this week, but is weather-dependant, so the end-date remains flexible.
Lions Bay's Director of Operations Karl Buhr noted that the project is not a municipal responsibility, and as such the Village is not consulted on the timing or the duration of the work.

The quiet pavement being refurbished this week is but one example of the features that were written into the contract which governs the work on…
