New Council Ready For Action
Inauguration draws large audience to Village Hall

The newly-elected Council members for Lions Bay were sworn in Tuesday night, and immediately got down to business.
The event took place inside the Village Hall before a large group of residents ranging in age from toddlers to great-grandparents. "I've overseen inaugural events in municipalities much larger than this one that didn't draw a crowd like this one," said Chief Administrative Officer Ross Blackwell, as the crowd filed in.
Blackwell introduced Lidstone and Company partner Sara Dubinsky, who administered the Oath of Office to the Mayor and Councillors, and oversaw the signing of the Code of Conduct by each newly elected member of Council.
New Mayor Ron McLaughlin then stepped forward and in what will perhaps stand as the record for the shortest meeting of the term, called upon each member of his new Council to take a part in the first official meeting of the new session. Councillors Neville Abbott and Leslie Nolin moved and seconded the opening of the meeting, followed by Councillors Ehsan Monfared and Adam Solheim, who moved and seconded the meeting's close.
The real business of the Village will be addressed at the next meeting, to be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17. Prior to that, members of the new Council will begin training for their new roles, and will also take part in a three-day Local Government Leadership Academy Council orientation session commencing in early December.
Information on how to reach members of Council can be found HERE on the Village website.
