Settler's Education 101: Giving Tuesday

Who is on your list?

After the craziness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a way to share some of what you have with others. First conceived in 1992, and founded in 2013 in Canada, the idea is to put rampant consumerism to rest for at least one day a year, and to allow someone else to benefit.

The Watershed has several reasons why RAVEN is our recipient of choice. RAVEN helps to seek transformative change by directing funds to help Indigenous Nations assert their rights to lands, waters and culture through the courts. RAVEN is the only charitable non-profit doing this work in Canada today. It's an organization that creates an opportunity for settlers to become allies in the fight for Indigenous justice and equality in the face of a system that has been built on the oppression of our first peoples.

If you are able to direct a contribution toward this pursuit of Indigenous justice, you can donate HERE. If you're not in a position to offer financial support at this time, you can still help further the cause of Indigenous justice by sharing this article, or just by taking the time to educate yourself on the campaigns waged by this worthy organization.

Who are you sharing with today?
