Dryden Creek blaze remains contained as firefighting efforts continue

The dot on the map went from red to yellow last evening, as BC Wildfire and Squamish Fire Rescue downgraded the Dryden Creek wildfire to 'Being Held' status.
The total size of the fire perimeter remains 59.5 hectares, which means "the fire is projected to remain within the current perimeter, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability," according to the latest update.
BC Wildfire reports that personnel numbers have not changed on site. Yesterday crews "worked along the south, east and west edges of the fire to reinforce existing holding lines closest to the community.
Another crew worked along the northern edge of the fire, improving water delivery systems and bolstering protection for communications infrastructure.
The RCMP investigation continues, but police have provided no further public statements. They are asking witnesses or anyone with information to call 604-892-6100.
A helicopter fly-over of the cliffside fire site Friday can be seen HERE.
The precipitous nature of the terrain means that it may be weeks before the blaze is completely extinguished. The District of Squamish will continue to provide regular updates HERE, as will BC Wildfire.
