The Polls Are Open

Election Day is upon us

It's time to exercise your franchise and choose a new federal governing party.

Today is Federal Election Day, and the polls will be open for local voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lions Bay Community Hall, 400 Centre Road.

You will have a full slate to choose from as candidates for all of the major parties are running in the West Vancouver Sunshine Coast Sea To Sky Riding.

There are several options for proving your identity and address:

  1. Show one of: your driver's licence or any other card issued by a Canadian government (federal, provincial/territorial or local) with your photo, name and current address

  2. Show two pieces of ID, both of which must have your name and at least one must have your current address. Examples can be found HERE.

  3. Declare your identity and address in writing and have someone who knows you and who is assigned to your polling station vouch for you. The voucher must be able to prove their identity and address, and can only vouch for one person.

More information is available through the Elections Canada site.

You can read a Q&A with Liberal Party Incumbent Patrick Weiler HERE, with Green Party candidate Lauren Greenlaw HERE, with NDP candidate Jäger Rosenberg HERE and with People's Party candidate Peyman Aksari HERE. Conservative candidate Keith Roy has not yet responded to The Watershed's request to participate. Whistler resident Gordon Jeffrey is also running once again as a candidate for the Rhinoceros Party.
