How will you take part?
June 8 is celebrated internationally as World Oceans Day, and coast to coast to coast in this country as a part of Ocean Week Canada (June 1-9).
As residents of an ocean-front community, Lions Bay villagers have a plethora of choices to help celebrate the day.
In West Van you can head over to an open house at Pacific Science Enterprise Centre, from 9:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m. There will be facility tours, science demonstrations and hands-on activities for the whole family.
If you're up for crossing the Lions Gate Bridge, you can join a beach Bio Blitz in Stanley Park to count sea creatures (from noon to 3 p.m.) and then move on to Jericho Beach for a clean-up (from 3 – 5 p.m.)
Want to do more? You can help protect our own glorious stretch of waterfront by joining or supporting the Átl’ka7tsem / Howe Sound Biosphere Region Society, Canada's 19th UNESCO Heritage site.
What will you do to celebrate?
