A Perfect Pearl

February's Coastal Canine is a true jewel

This gorgeous girl is Pearl, an energetic, outdoors-loving dog with a big personality and an even bigger sense of fun.

Pearl's just turned 12 in December, and celebrated with some of her favourite treats, which include apples, bananas, chicken, and any doggie snack on offer.

She loves hiking with her Sheltie sister, Blue, particularly on the Arbutus Trail in Lighthouse Park and Trudi’s Trail in Lions Bay. Also a natural swimmer, Pearl is fiercely competitive in the water, always racing to be the first to grab the stick or ball and proudly bring it back to shore.

In the winter, she fully embraces the magic by rolling joyfully in the snow.

At home, she loves hanging out with Blue and her ginger cat Ernesto (a rescue, who hails from Mexico). They all love sharing treats and vying for attention.

First bite of apple goes to you, Pearl!

Pearl has a secret apple tree, an old wizened thing (the tree, not Pearl) way up high a cliff. The trick is to throw sticks at it to knock an apple down and then beat Pearl to the apple. Pearl usually wins. Love this dog!
