Online auction funds promote Indigenous rights, sovereignty

RAVEN Trust needs your support, and they want you to have fun doing it.
The organization's second annual online fundraiser closes on July 31 at 6 p.m., so there's still time to place your bids and support this fundraiser for Indigenous justice at the same time.
"RAVEN was founded in 2009 with a goal to change the legal system from the inside out," said the organization's Development Manager Tara Preissl. "After 17 years, we remain the only organization to pioneer a unique fundraising model for public-interest litigation, an innovative platform for change, and a financial solution for Indigenous Peoples to have a voice in Canada's legal system."
The auction is supported through the donation of items from cafes, galleries, eco-tourism companies, restaurants, outdoor activities, book stores, hotels, and Indigenous artists and companies. The inaugural event last year raised nearly $20,000 and the team at RAVEN are hoping to beat that figure this year.
"Each bid raises crucial funds for RAVEN’s programs, initiatives, and educational work that provides access to justice and promotes Indigenous rights and sovereignty," says Preissl, who adds that the online auction is one of RAVEN's largest fundraising efforts in 2026 and helps the organization expand its reach from coast to coast in support of their partner First Nations.
She sees it as an opportunity for the organization to give a little something back to the RAVEN community, in return for the year-round support of Indigenous-led litigation.
