One of two local beaches closed to swimming due to bacteria
Swimming is not recommended at Lions Bay Beach Park this week according to Vancouver Coastal Health. (VCH).

Throughout the summer season, VCH tests at popular swimming beaches around the Metro Vancouver area. Samples are tested for the bacteria that shows up when there are faeces in the water from humans or wildlife. Swimming or playing in water infested with E. coli bacteria can cause illness or infections.
In last week's testing on July 12, E. coli rates were determined to be over the acceptable limit at two beaches around the Lower Mainland. Lions Bay Beach and Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver have both been declared not suitable for swimming. (Trout Lake in Vancouver, which was deemed not suitable last week has regained its 'suitable status'.)
Brunswick Beach and Kelvin Grove Beach are both safe for swimming.
VCH typically tests the water on a weekly basis, but may test more frequently at closed beaches. More information can be found at the VCH site HERE.
