Merry and Bright

Local light displays add a little twinkle to grey skies

The stormy season has well and truly set in on the Wet West Coast, but grey skies don't have to dampen your holiday spirit. Festive displays of light abound on the North Shore and up the Sea to Sky. Bundle up and enjoy!

  • For the first time (officially) this year, Britannia Beach is lighting up the night. Both Britannia Village and the Britannia Mining Museum have festive displays for all to enjoy, plus lots of opportunity for delicious seasonal treats for the young and young at heart.

  • Downtown Squamish is filled with festive lights, and this is the last weekend to catch a ride on the North Pole Express. Catch it at the Railway Museum of BC at 39645 Government Road, in Squamish.

  • When the wind dies down, you can enjoy the spirit of the season with a ride on the Sea to Sky Gondola complete with a seasonal forest walk followed by hot chocolate and treats at the lodge. On until December 31.

As always, you can explore the enchanting Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge until January 18. And what better view of the city than atop the Grouse Mountain Gondola?

How do you plan to light up your holiday season?
