Remarkable Ray

June's Coastal Canine has come a long way

As a puppy, Naynay lived a crazy life on the streets and the beaches of Mexico and was even once run over by a horse. But when she was two, she fell in love with a family she met on the beach. She followed them around until they fell for her too. Soon, she had a new name —Ray— and a new home in Lions Bay.

Her early years in Mexico have given Ray some interesting life-skills. Chickens, for example, are not safe in her presence, as she will catch and eat any chicken that crosses her path.

These days, Ray is 12 years old and a full-time ambassador on Mountain Drive. She can often be found greeting passers-by with a wag of the tail and a gentle nod, while lying in her favourite patch of sun.

Ray's family says you may have to earn her love and attention, but that she has grown to become the best, calmest dog, and they've never had to train her.

She spends her days hanging out with her sister Seven, and with her dog friends Tupac, Honey and Benito.

Thanks for keeping Lions Bay a chicken-free zone, Ray!
