Special Meeting: Election Appointments

Lions Bay Village Council has (somewhat precipitously) posted notice of a special meeting to be held tomorrow night, Wednesday February 15, 2023 at 6 pm in council chambers.

The subject of the meeting, according to the agenda posted on the village site HERE, is to discuss and appoint candidates for the position of Chief Elections Officer and Deputy Chief Elections Officer for the village byelection, which has been called for Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Also expected at the meeting will be the announcement of nomination dates.

As has become the custom this term, there will be a closed element to the meeting, but according to the agenda, it will be held after the public participation section, which is to begin at 6pm.

The link to the Zoom telecast of the event can be found HERE.

For village residents who are unable to attend this important event on such short notice, The Watershed will be present, and will post a special edition of 'Council in Focus' subsequent to the meeting.

Thanks for this update regarding a meeting tomorrow night. I can't help wondering why there are so many closed meetings when the new mayor promised more transparency
