This Weekend: Live and Local Concerts

Updated: Aug 30

A little music to brighten the dog days of summer

It's going to be a hot August weekend, and what better way to cool things down by enjoying some live music in the great outdoors?

Live and local concert events are happening all over the Lower Mainland this weekend. Here's a sampling where crossing a bridge is not a requirement:

The Shipyards Night Market presents live music every Friday night at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver. Along with all the Night Market fun, this week musical artists include Swallow & Doyle, Danny Balen and the Aristo-Cats. Things kick off at 5 p.m.

West Vancouver is playing host to the Dundarave Hoedown, today from 4 to 9 p.m. in Dundarave Village on Marine Drive. It's a family-friendly event with music, beer gardens, pony rides and kids games.

In Squamish, the Arc'teryx Climbing Academy takes over the town with climbing events all weekend, and free live music at Pavillion Park. Friday night features local Indie Folk musician Ryan Harris and Saturday features Aussie DJs The Bag Raiders. Both free events begin at 9:30 p.m.

I was hoping for an extra "dog of the month" picture based on the subtitle of this post.
