A Taste of Crushed Wild Mint

RAVEN Book Club returns in April

If there was ever a time for poetry, this is it.

Heiltsuk author Jess Housty (‘Cúagilákv) lives in Bella Bella, and will share their award-winning poetry book CRUSHED WILD MINT with RAVEN book club participants in an online event April 30.

BC Author Eden Robinson calls Housty's work "an expansive, generous meditation on the mutual care of mountains, the forgiving veins of rivers, all the liminal territories and beings soaked in the verdant magic of the Pacific Northwest coast.”

The book has been called "a powerful and sensory collection of poetry rooted in land, ancestry, and lived experience," and RAVEN Trust manager Tara Preissl says it was one of her favourite reads in 2025.

Published by Harbour Publishing in 2023, CRUSHED WILD MINT was on the BC Bestsellers list for a full year, winning both the Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award and the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize in 2024.

In an interview with BC poet Rob Taylor, Housty referred to poems as conversations, and this is your chance to join in online.

All participants will be entered into a draw to win a copy of the book following the event.
