Watershed stories that caught your eye

Readers can always count on The Watershed to stay informed, and 2025 has been chock-full of news stories from both home and away.
This year our readers were most interested in staying informed in the wake of disasters, including last year's tragic landslide, a neighbourhood home that burned on Thanksgiving Day and a devastating bus accident in Horseshoe Bay.
Village readers clearly enjoyed keeping an eye on their Council, following local legal disputes and the loss of our local Postal Outlet after nearly 40 years.
Here are our top-ten most-read stories of 2025:
1. A tragic bus accident in Horseshoe Bay in May left two women injured and claimed the life of a young boy.
2. Villagers came out in droves to remember Barbara and David Enns, who died in last December's devastating debris torrent.
3. Firefighters successfully battled an out-of control fire at Tunnel Bluffs in August.
4. A Thanksgiving Day house fire cost one family their home, while our firefighters saved other neighbourhood homes from a similar fate.
5. The Lions Bay Post Office closed in April after more than 40 years of operation.
6. An illegal signal fire on Mount Harvey in July triggered a helicopter rescue.
7. Marcus Reuter became the second Councillor to resign his position this term.
8. A long-running dispute that began between neighbours over a driveway ended up setting back a Lions Bay couple more than $100,000, plus a further $335,000 in special costs.
Three Village Council stories tied for ninth position, with Residents Questioning Council Competency in February, Ron McLaughlin's announcement that he was running for Council in May, and Council Facing Online Threats in November.
Sally Field Movie Shoot Closes Lions Bay Store and Post Office
This story landed on March 29, heralding a refurb of the store and the closure of the Post Office, and foreshadowing the full closure in April.
